Freddie
Mac
Freddie Mac is a
stockholder-owned corporation chartered by Congress
in 1970 to create a continuous flow of funds to
mortgage lenders in support of homeownership and
rental housing. Freddie Mac purchases mortgages from
lenders and packages them into securities that are
sold to investors. By doing so, Freddie Mac
ultimately provides homeowners and renters with
lower housing costs and better access to home
financing. Since the company's inception in 1970,
Freddie Mac has financed homes for nearly 26 million
families – equal to one of every six homes in
America.

Fannie
Mae
Fannie Mae was created by Congress
in 1938 to bolster the housing industry during the
Depression. Fannie Mae operates under a congressional
charter that directs the company to channel their
efforts into increasing the availability and affordability
of homeownership for low-, moderate-, and middle-income
Americans. Fannie Mae does not lend money directly
to home buyers. Instead, the company works with lenders
to make sure they don't run out of mortgage funds,
so more people can achieve the dream of homeownership.

UnidosUS
UnidosUS formerly the National Council of La Raza
(NCLR) is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan, tax-exempt
organization established in 1968 to reduce poverty
and discrimination, and improve life opportunities
for Hispanic Americans. NCLR has chosen to work toward
this goal through two primary, complementary approaches:
- Capacity-building assistance to
support and strengthen Hispanic community-based
organizations: providing organizational assistance
in management, governance, program operations,
and resource development to Hispanic community-based
organizations in urban and rural areas nationwide,
especially those which serve low-income and disadvantaged
Hispanics.
- Applied research, policy
analysis, and advocacy: providing an Hispanic
perspective on issues such as education,
immigration, housing, health, employment and
training, and civil rights enforcement, to
increase policy-maker and public understanding
of Hispanic needs, and to encourage the adoption
of programs and policies which equitably serve
Hispanics.

California
Housing Law Project
The California Housing Law Project
is an advocacy organization that lobbies in the California
State Legislature for affordable housing and tenants
rights for low income people, the disabled, elderly,
homeless and farmworkers. The Law Project also provides
housing information services to local government housing
agencies, housing advocacy organizations and individuals.

Southern
California Association of Non-profit Housing (SCANPH)
The Southern California
Association of Non-Profit Housing (SCANPH) is a
non-profit membership organization dedicated to the
development, preservation and management of
permanently affordable housing for low-income
people. SCANPH believes that the non-profit
community development industry is the best vehicle
of attainment of this goal.

HUD
- Housing and Urban Development
HUD was born in 1965, but its history
extends back to the National Housing Act of 1934.
HUD's mission is for a decent, safe, and sanitary
home and suitable living environment for every American.
HUD also aims to:

homeownership
- Providie housing assistance for low-income persons
- Work to create, rehabilitate and maintain the
nation's affordable housing
- Enforce the nation's fair housing laws
- Help the homeless
- Spurr economic growth in distressed neighborhoods
- Help local communities meet their development

Housing Development Corporation
NHDC is a national nonprofit
organization dedicated to improving the quality of
life for low-income families by stabilizing and
revitalizing neighborhoods via acquisition,
renovation, and preservation of affordable housing
developments. NHDC makes efficient use of scarce
public and private capital by combining business
discipline and economics with an unwavering
commitment to its mission.

FHA
- Federal Housing Administration
Since its inception in 1934, the
Federal Housing Administration (FHA) has provided
vital public services contributing to the health and
well-being of individuals and communities through
its nationally administered programs. After being
consolidated into the Department of Housing and Urban
Development's (HUD) Office of Housing in 1965, the
FHA continued its core mission of contributing to
the building and maintenance of healthy, prosperous
neighborhoods and expanding opportunities for affordable
home ownership, rental housing and healthcare.

A national affordable housing advocacy
organization that provides updates on federal housing
legislation, action alerts, housing resources, and
a comprehensive list of links to websites that address
housing related issues.
